Great gift idea or emergency kit for car

Let me start by saying if you are a die hard outdoor survivalist, this kit is not for you. And I’m sure you already built your own from scratch. But, if you are an occasional hiker, or just want an emergency kit for your home or car. This is an all around good kit. None of the items scream high quality on their own. But at this price point, and for the amount of items included, this is a good balance. The carrying case, knife, and fire starters are probably worth the price by themselves. I have been told by the seller that they are working on a second generation kit. So it sounds like this kit will get even better when that happens.

    Great for price

I haven’t truly needed anything in this set yet, but… the knife is sharp, the Whistle is loud, and all of the gadgets are pretty cool and convenient. I didn’t take out the wire saw yet to try it, but from other reviews, I’m assuming it will work fine on small branches I’m going to keep this in my car and then definitely have it on me for camping/road trips. It is worth it for the price, especially to have in a pinchThe only thing is the Flashlight doesn’t come with a battery so make sure you put one in the case. and you have to position things juuuust right to get it all back in the case. All in all, I’m happy with this purchase

Great value, tons of valuable products

Great deal for the dollar, alot of good items to have. Read the product description (no point in repeating and the description is spot on accurate). This is more expensive than some other options out there, but I think it’s worth it if you see the items you need. They are actually much more affordable if you need 3 or 4 of the items versus buying individually.A few standouts: 1) the case is a good multi-use case 2) knife is sturdy and firm. Larger blade and no wobble in it (like many other kit knives) 3) feral firestarter works well.I do think the chain cutter could be better, but that is the only item that I would not have bought standalone. But it was a great addition.

    Impressive

For my son’s birthday. He really liked all that it had to offer. Only question he had was he found a fishing lure just laying in the box (not wrapped in plastic) and there was no fishing line. The lure isn’t very useful without any monofilament. Don’t know if oversight during packing, or planned.

The survival kit with a bit of everything!

This is a bit of a harder review to write given there are many items in here I hope to never have to use (i.e. a glass breaking pen or anti-hypothermia blanket!). With that said, it’s a great item for a gift for someone to keep in the trunk of their car in case the unexpected occurs and you need something you’d never expect to need that will be waiting for you in this kit.None of the individual items are of incredibly high quality, which I wouldn’t have expected for the price either, but all of them seem like they’d do the job in an emergency, which is really the main focus of a kit like this.

    Nice collection-most things pretty good

Most of the stuff is good for the price. Especially like the knife and saw. The golden compass has a nice color but is pretty useless. The one on the survival band is better.,

    Great Little Survival Kit

This is a nice little kit! As you can see in the photo, it fits perfect in the door of my RAM truck. Everything seems to be make of quality materials. In fact, I’ll be making the knife my everyday carry. Decent instructions come with the kit in case you don’t understand what something is used for. The ends of the extendable pole that is used for blowing air on a fire, is a little sharp. So be careful when you close it. Along with the fishing jig. I’ll add a hook and some fishing line to the kit and it will be good in a emergency. Well worth the price!

Good selection of great quality survival tools

The media could not be loaded.

Purchased this kit to keep in my car for emergencies and Im very pleased with it, its exactly what Ive been looking for. Lots of useful good quality items that fit nicely into a small robust case. I particularly like the paracord bracelet that has a compass an flint in it. So many other useful tools too. I did have a small issue with the knife, you really need to make sure it locks into place before using it because it could be dangerous but very happy with everything else

    Great for Vehicles

One of the best small survival kits I have found for a reasonable price. After spending 35 years in the military testing survival items in vairous climates and conditions this is one of the best for the money. The total of buying these items separately would far exceed the cost for this great kit. What impressed me the most is the quality of the blades. I own two already and plan to gift them this holiday season to family and friends.

    Great assortment

Overall this seems like a nice kit with a good variety of items. You would probably want to upgrade to higher quality items if you are using them on a regular basis, but this is a great compact collection to keep in your car, RV, or even just to have at home. Pairing it up with a first aid kit would give you a nice assortment in an emergencyKnifeThe knife is sharp and seems sturdy enough. The open assist on it is really nice and makes it easy to open with one hand. Don’t have a spare car window to test the glass breaker on.PenIs metal, heavy and has a replaceable cartridge vs disposable, which is nice. Again, not sure on the glass breaker, but seems like it would work.4 in 1 BraceletA very similar one on Amazon shows 12′ of cord, so I’m assuming this is the same. The compass points in the right directions, and the fire starter throws sparks pretty well.Bottle hanging buckle clipGriped firmly around a 20oz plastic bottle, and seems to hold tight, with the clips allowing quick release and reattachment.CompassWorks fine. Didn’t glow in the dark right out of the package and had to set it in the sun for a bit for it to glow, so I wouldn’t expect it to glow if it’s being stored in the case. Other that, it’s solid enough and will point you in the right direction.Keychain screwdriverThey work. You can insert the end of one driver into the keychain hole of the other one to get extra torque although they will probably strip out pretty easily with too much hard use. Overall though they work fine for some quick adjusting.Wire sawWas able to cut through a 1×2 in about 30 seconds, so any branches that size shouldn’t be an issue. A little technique is required. You have to pull in a more side to side motion, as a strong “U” shape tends to bind up about halfway through the cut.FirestarterIt throws sparks well, and seems like it will work fine.FlashlightPlenty bright. Not on par with a torch that takes 3-4 batteries, but works great for it’s size. Nice that the beam is fully adjustable. It would be great if a battery was included in the case, as you’ll need to toss one in there in order to have a flashlight when you need it. Other than that, it’s a great emergency light source.Credit card knifeI’ve never had to actually use one of these, but it seems like it could be useful. Could definitely come in handy for a variety of situations where you just need something that will work in a pinch to turn a screw or bolt, or cut or pry something. Also comes with some extra string wrapped around it. The knife strip wasn’t very sharp right off, but I sharpened it and now it is :)Emergency blanket51x82″ or 4×7′. So big enough to wrap an average person. I’m not going to test it by sleeping outside with it, but I’m going to assume it’s better than nothing. At least it would probably keep the dew off of you overnight.WhistleIt’s loud.CarabineersAs printed on them, not for climbing. But it is pretty nice that they do have a screw lock mechanism on them, and carabiners are always a great addition for hanging and securing items.Climbing ropeAgain, definitely not for climbing. It’s paracord, and I’m not sure what the weight rating is, but there is 16′ of feet of it, and having rope always comes in handy.BlowpipeExpands out to 19.5″ long. Usefully as an extended straw or to blow air when starting a fire.7 in 1 whistle knifeThe blade is razor sharp. The spork side could definitely come in handy for some light digging or scraping as well. Has about 2′ of light string wrapped around it, and more rope/string is always nice to have. The whistle is very high pitched and loud as well. A nice low profile multi tool.CaseIt seems fairly sturdy. 8x5x3″, and 1lb 12oz once I repacked it. You could also stuff a few more small items in here if you wanted as well.

Had to use it to review it

What a great deal, this small kit packs a punch. This is not an unboxing, I have actually used this kit and this is what I found. There is not a lot of waste in this kit, everything is usable and fairly well-built. Two locking carabiners (not designed for climbing) are great for hanging food in a tree or tying down your tent. The 130 DB whistle sounds out even through wood landscapes. The spork has a sheath for the knife and bottle opener on the opposite end that also has a whistle integrated into it. The water bottle holder does hold a water bottle well and keeps it within arm’s reach. The compass works well and is accurate when compared to my digital and other analog models. keep in mind that the glow-in-the-dark bezel and marking are invaluable at night. The flashlight is quite bright but is best suited for close quarters and not necessarily long-range use, although the strobe feature is visible from a good distance. The tree saw is adequate for what it is; an emergency tool to cut limbs for a fire or shelter. The large flint and striker work surprisingly well as does the mini striker and flint on the bracelet. The kit includes a fair amount of rope and para cord and other useful items like the survival card, with a modest length of cordage and basic wrench/screw tools, this is a handy item to just keep in your wallet. Finally, we have the folding knife. Out of the package it was sharp but needed a touchup and it holds an edge pretty well. The locking mechanism is quite thin but holds the blade in place for basic functions, however, I wouldn’t apply too much force against the blade or the lock may fail. there is a fishing lure but no line or hook, (I added some line and a hook myself, you can see it in the top right of the picture wrapped around the striker) also the tactical pen was nice to have, it writes well, and it has good weight. The glass break works decently but beware, it is sharp and this pen may not be suitable for your shirt pocket. Overall this is a great little kit for the car, truck, or boat. I think I may pick up another for my Wife’s car too.

    Pretty impressed

For 25 bucks this was well worth it. I agree that I would not be climbing with the rope, but definitely handy when you need a rope. Love the bracelet the knives pretty decent. My wife is tired of me blowing the whistle in the house. I actually have a big smile on my face over this purchase. Thank you.

    Nice kit!

This kit has lots of things I hope I’ll never have to use, but it’s nice to have them available. Small kit size is easy to leave in the car trunk for unforeseen circumstances. Most potentially useful items for me are the knife, compass, space blanket, fire strike, carabiners, rope, saw, and pen. Your usefulness mileage may vary.Only complaint is one latch broke off during shipping, but it’s too much hassle to exchange and it’s likely the new one would have the same or worse damage. Amazon is usually pretty terrible at packing items safely, so I blame them.

    Nature here I come!

Amazing how much you can fit in such a small box. Everything feels durable, knives very sharp, both compasses are accurate, two good fire starters, the cable saw works nice on branches and cuts PVC pipes nicely. A couple things I feel could be better too many whistles, and the carbine clips seem durable but not as strong as I preferred, also the saws on the spork and knife is more a noise maker than a saw not sharp could not cut anything. Other than the few things noted it is a great buy for the money and a great gift for camping not so much for survival.

    Nifty all in one

The media could not be loaded.

The things that stood out to me the most about this kit was the compass and knife. I love vintage style compasses and the knife had two different assisted opening mechanisms. (See video. Turn on volume if you like listening to knife openings)The fire starter is decent. Was able to get a fire going after a few strikes. If you don’t know how to gather tinder/dont have access, ripped kleenix/toilet tissue works pretty well as a substitute. The ferro rod has a rubber tube cover. Make sure to take it off before use.

    Great item!

This kit came with more items than I thought! I was thinking this would just be my emergency kit to keep when I go camping; however, there are some cool items I am going to use on a daily basis. I plan on throwing some fresh batteries into the kit for the flashlight. Also the “fishing lure” does not come with a hook or anything, so not sure what good that is for. Everything else is great and could be a great gift for someone who loves the outdoors.

    An all in one kit

I adventure a lot and I’m always worried that something could happen and I could get lost. While I’ve always had some tools with me just in case, I never truly had something Hera had everything with it. That’s when I found this beauty. It has everything g you could possibly need in a sealed plastic durable container. Reminded me of the military containers we stored gear in. Rescue blanket, life, compass, spork, geez everything your need in case of an emergency or need to help in an unexpected situation. Highly recommend it if you are an outdoors person.

Great gift item and kit to include for emergencies

We live in earthquake territory and have been trying to do better at putting together our emergency kit. I’ve also watched enough doomsday movies to know that the more gear you have the better for survival. While this kit isn’t stellar in any ONE area, it does include a variety of pretty good quality items to have on hand. Might be overkill to keep in the trunk of the car, but this will definitely be a solid addition to our emergency kits at home. Might pick up a second one as well. So far would good recommend to anyone. Will update if anything else comes up.

Save your money, this is garbage

    1. Knife won’t lock unless you SLAM it into place2. Whistle, best item in the box13. carabiners (2 of them), “not for climbing” printed on them, should make great keychains14. climbing rope, medium quality long shoestring,15. blowpipe, cheap extendable radio antenna16. 7 in 1 whistle knife, spoon fork knife whistle (3rd one?) bottle opener serated edge cord all below average17. portable case, holds everything, looks like a high quality pencil boxSummary: cheap junk thrown in a box and sold as a “survival kit”, not worth $10, save your money and buy a decent knife instead, bummed that I can’t give this thing zero stars. And if your still reading and you’ve read some of the five star reviews, carefully look at the comments, like the one that says “I can not stress enough that the type of “paracord” included is NOT climbing rope, I cut it open to see what it was made of and IIRC it’s 2 strands of 2 strand in a sleeve. I wouldn’t trust this to hold an overweight cat on a cliff.” As well as others. Let the buyer beware.

I was surprised at how much comes in this little box. I didn’t know it came with a durable case to keep everything in so that was really nice. I decided to keep this in my truck in case we ever find our self in a stranded situation we will have everything we need to get by.This box has a total of 3 whistles, one by itself on a keyring, one is the cover of the knife on the spork and one is built into the paracord bracelet clip. There are 2 fire starters, one is larger and by itself on a string and the other is built into the paracord bracelet clip.It has 2 compass, one large one on a keychain and again one built into the paracord bracelet clip. This paracord bracelet is a great all in one on the go survival kit.The flashlight, pen, and knife are all made with durable metal casing. The flashlight has a telescoping lens. The pens has a metal tip for breaking glass. This case really has it all and worth the money.

Something is not what I expected.

In the survival kits I order, the flashlights needed batteries. One was fine. The other kit flashlight only flashes, never a solid light. What a disappointment for the kid that gets it for Christmas.

    Reliable all in one Kit

This Survival Kit comes in a very Impressive Compact Waterproof Hard Case, Perfect for all kinds of Traveling! The amount of Tools you Receive in this Kit is Phenomenal for the Price! I use this Kit in my Day Pack, Hiking Pack, Fishing Pack and Hunting Pack! I can put this Hard Case Survival Kit in any pack I’m Planning to use and have the Confidence to Adventure. I’m Comfortable Knowing I have 25+ Gadgets in my pack to have my back! Last Weekend I wore the 5 in 1 Paracord Compass Bracelet and also took my Compass from the Survival Kit and used them during my Hike making sure I was able to use them properly to find my way back to camp and I made it! The Flashlight is the Perfect Pocket Size and Bright too! I also used the Firestarter for our Fire it was really Fun getting to use my New Tools! I think this Survival Kit would be a Great Gift for enthusiasts of all types and Very Handy to have in any Scenario!

    Great basic kit

I purchased this to have during our kayaking trips, a basic first aid kit just wasn’t good enough and you never know what can happen during an eight hour float or longer. although the kit has some cheaply made items, it has everything that I could think of that I would need in an emergency to survive until help arrives. I carry this now on all of my outdoor trips, from kayaking to hiking. For the price it is a must have kit to have if I ever needed something chances are there is something in the kit that will work to get me through.

Get a lot for the money!

This is a great little kit where you get a lot of bang for your buck. I bought this without really having a need for it other than to store it in my truck to be better prepared for various situations. I wouldn’t say that any of the gear is necessarily of the highest quality, though it’s not junk either. I’d rather spend a little bit of money on a kit like this (that I may likely never need), then shell out money on expensive gear that will most likely just end up going untouched. Small price to pay for a little more peace of mind.
