Does the 100W Solar Panel generate a full 100W of power?

In many cases, a solar panel may not be able to provide its full rated power. This is normal and may have the following causes: Light Intensity;Surface Temperature;Sunlight Angle;Panel Shading;Controller type; Product breakage

What are the points to pay attention to when installing and connecting?

1.It is best to keep the panel at a 45° angle with the ground;

2.Some high-power panels need to use MPPT instead of PWM;

3.It is necessary to calculate the maximum number that can be connected in series to prevent excessive current

Is the Alrska solar panel a 12V or 24V system to use?

The 200W or 400W panel can supply stable power to both 12v and 24v systems when matched with the right controller according to demand.

What are the considerations when testing solar panels ?

1.It is necessary to use a multimeter to detect the open-loop voltage and short-loop current;

2.Different controllers will inhibit the power performance of the panel

3.The detection time is best not to choose the test time at the highest temperature

Whether high temperatures affect solar panels

High temperature will significantly affect the efficiency of the panel, so the test time should not be selected in the summer when the highest temperature

    Works Well, Sunlight is Free

The 20 watt version of this panel is lightweight and easy to install. All connections are waterproof and there are two pairs of precut holes on the bottom side of the panel for standard mounting. I found the MC4 connectors to be very tight and hard to disconnect – which is either a problem or a very good thing.I opted to install mine as an awning, and drilling new holes in the aluminum frame was easy. Using this panel to run a few led shop lights on a 6Ah battery with an MPPT and an (idle) inverter I’ve yet to run out of power. It’s great for small project power or keeping a battery topped off.

    Well made

Nice Solar panel that comes with standard Solar cable connectors. Very well made. A little overpriced in my opinion for the power capacity, but a really a nice item

    Working well for me

I have the 100W model and it has done well for me, I usually top out around 94 watts on the roof of my shed and that’s pretty good. I had to get creative with mounting options. It doesn’t come with any mounting hardware and there were only 4 holes on each side and none in the corners but it seems rigid enough. This is the largest panel I have and so far so good, if I need another one I would consider the Alrska again.

    Good for small stuff

It’s handy to have panels of different sizes like this small one, which you can combine with others for more power if you need to, but use alone when you don’t need much.

    Works well

Puts out 100 watts and is framed in aluminum making these good for a roof or stand. Value is higher than par for a 100 watt panel after looking around. Panel leads come fitted with standard twist lock connector so you will need some bare end twist lock leads to connect to the charge control.

    Great 20w panel!

I’m so excited about this panel. I got it to set up solar charging for step lights on a new deck I’m building. I finally got all the parts and pieces for it and I’ve had it set up for a few days now and it’s been fantastic! In the pics, you can see I had it connected to my meter, and at night, with just lights in my kitchen it is pushing 10 volts. With the charge controller and 2 12v-10 AH LifePo4 batteries, I’m able to run 8 3w lights for days and days and not worry about having full sun, but then with this panel, the charge is pretty quick and I’m confident that my setup will run for a very long time without any issues. The panel seems well built, it’s sturdy and the aluminum frame is strong. I have no complaints about this and definitely recommend this panel.

    Solar generators require adapter piece

If you are planning on connecting this to a electric generator, you will need to buy an adapter piece in order to hook it up. I am going to mount this to my golf cart so I can charge it with the power of the sun while it sits outside. Thecharging time for my generator was about 3 hours in Arizona sun.

Well Made High Efficiency Solar Panel

My application for this Alrska 12 Volt 30 Watt Solar Panel is to keep a 12V LiFePo4 battery charged using a small independent solar charger. This is used as a backup for my communication systems (internet, Wifi and amateur radio) and auxillary LED lighting for my otherwise split phase solar system in my mountain cabin. The full system there is 48V. It operates on a solar then battery then grid arrangement. At that elevation winter storms and heavy icing is not unusual. If there are several days of fogged in conditions, and should the mains fail, my power could be compromised. That’s where this system comes in. The fully charged 12V battery will keep the electronics running for 3 – 4 days, assuming no solar charging. The power requirements are quite low. This little 30 watt panel keeps this system completely topped off.I have this panel mounted independently of the main solar panels, just outside the building with a short lead inside. The panel is well made, with standard connectors. It is very reasonably priced and works as well as some higher dollar panels I have on my camper. It’s recommended and worthy of five stars.

Good output, works just as the specs say

These 200W modules are good quality and are working just as advertised. I ordered 3 to install in parallel on my travel trailer. I went with these panels specifically because they have a higher working voltage than most in this size. This helps when running in parallel (instead of series) and through an MPPT charge controller.I tested them in a variety of conditions and they are performing as expected with output voltage. Given the sun angle, temperature and other factors, they also produced the output power I was expecting.I’m very pleased with them.

    Great Performing Lightweight Panel

The media could not be loaded.

I’ve got several portable folding solar panels ranging from 200 watt to 60 watt to use with various portable power stations. I decided to give this bi-fold unit a try as the price was great and I like the advertised design and features. It arrived in a few days and comes with 3 cables; XT60 to 8mm (dc7909); 5521 to 5521; and female 5521 to bare wire. It also has built in PD USBC and a standard USB port. The panels are lightweight and super easy to set up.I didn’t take a video of the USB-C port, but I was able to pull 42 watts into a power station with that output yestday. This is excellent as it has been my experience that the built in USB-C outputs on some of my other portable panels will get a high of around 30 watts, even though they are advertised as 45 watt.Today, in direct sun I’m getting 45 watts out of this 60 watt panel into my Bluetti EB3A through the XT60 output connected to the DC 7909 input of the Bluetti. I actually got a high of 50 watts earlier, but I didn’t get video of that. 45-50watts out of a portable solar panel is outstanding and none of these panels will ever give you 100% of the rating. If you are looking for lightweight 60 watt panels, these are it. Highly recommended.

    RV Solar Panel

The Alrska 200 watt Solar Panel, and I must say, I’m impressed with its performance. This high-efficiency black PV module is an excellent addition to my 12/24 Volt system, and it is a very reliable source of power, I use it to charge my power stations. What I appreciate most about this solar panel is its efficiency. It consistently delivers the promised 200 watts of power, allowing me to charge my devices, run appliances, and maintain the necessary power. The mono design ensures optimal energy conversion, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.Installation was a breeze thanks to the clear instructions, and the build quality isgreat. It feels durable and I can bring it with me if we go camping.Overall, reliable and efficient source of clean energy, making it a must-have for anyone that has RV, boat, cabin, or off-grid system.

Ordered 3. 2 were broken and the 3rd looked rough.

So I ordered three of these and the frames on two of them were detached from the face of the solar elements. The 3rd panel had a lot of gaps in the seal and didn’t look well at all, so I just returned all three. I’ll try another brand for my van build.

Delivers the voltage and watts as advertised – Working great so far!

The solar panels have been working great – one of them arrived broken, and I had to be returned but that was UPS responsibility. Just thought I’d mention that these do shatter like tempered glass if they are hit hard enough. (I’m not sure what happened to the one that I received broken but it was shattered through and through BUT all the glass stayed intact to the unit.Very good product! Delivers the voltage and watts that it advertises

    Shocking Results

Hello all, first I’m going to tell you that I ordered one panel from this company to check them out first. I have never heard of them but I thought I’d give them a shot. I’m completely blown away by the results of my testing of this 200 watt solar panel. I was expecting to get about 150, maybe, if I was lucky, 170 watts from this panel. To my surprise, 183 watts straight out of the box, yes I do realize that it will vary for everyone depending on the conditions and maybe I got lucky but it seems to be a pretty consistent number so I just ordered another one and it arrived on 11/26/22. I will test the two together and get back to you all. So far, I’m super impressed.12/3/2022. I just ordered two more for a total of four now. Enough said, I like these panels.12/24/2022 This is a phenomenal update, I have never had a solar panel that will produce exactly what it is advertised for, see the photos I just posted. I have four 200 watt Alrska solar panels, it is 31 degrees at this moment and I’m pulling 813 watts with the four 200 watt panels I don’t expect you to take my word on this, you don’t know me, therefore I have posted 3 pictures as proof. The time is 11:50 a.m. as I type this and I am completely blown away by these panels. All I can say is I will buy four more in the very near future. Alrska panels have delivered for me, Alrska please make higher watt solar panels in the very near future. P.S. I’m completely blown away by these panels.07/30/2023. Just ordered and received two more for a total of six, still very impressed.

Poor build quality– none of the components were properly glued down

This panel isn’t built very well. The caulking bead on one side attaching the glass to the aluminum frame wasn’t actually connected, so the aluminum frame is a bit loose against the panel, and the junction box underneath fell off before I even started wiring, exposing the 3 raw pins underneath. I used copious amounts of sikaflex to cement the junction box down; we’ll see if it works.

These 200W solar panels are average.

So 1 out of 4 panels came in scratched up and 2 out of 4 panels that I ordered do not have metal frames firmly attached to solar panels (not a huge deal yet). Having said all that I got a reasonably good deal $$$ on them. Customer service is good, however on performance side: I’m in South FL, today is Oct 18th, I’m using a Grecell 2400w generator (amazing btw), I plugged these panels in parallel and at best at high noon with 0 cloud cover I’m barely breaking 500w (out of possible 800w). Yes I know I’m not in a lab, so I don’t expect 200w performance out of 200w panel, but then again, I was hoping they would perform better than 125w a panel at peak time for me.

    different volts

my major complaint is that the listing says 12volt 200 watts so i bought 4 of them. well they are actually 24 volts and i have a bunch of 12 volt panels already and a i have a 500 volt mppt charge controller that i was going to run everything in series. so this really complicates things. anyone that is familiar with parallel and series connections knows what i’m talking about. i can make it work, but it will be harder and less efficient. they need to list them for what they are….24 volts and not 12 volts.

    Cost effective good quality

170 watts first time using in a flat mount. Because I’m on a sailboat, flat on top of the Bimini is only location. Probably buy a second. One panel with an inverter runs refrigerator 24/7, countertop ice maker 4 hours per day, 32″ TV 10 hours a day using a Pecron 600w Solar generator. Both are very cost-effective way to get into solar.

    Excellent Solar Panel

Been running a pair of the 120W 10BB panels for almost three months, no issues whatsoever and they run near, and sometimes over, advertised numbers. I run two in series, I looked over at my Renogy 20 controller one day, and the array was producing 258W.

    Good Choice for MPPT Controllers

[Alrska 200 watt Solar Panel]Generally, compared to other 200 watt panels..– labeled for 12v(voc) = 20 voltsThis one(voc) = 28 volts– labeled for 24v(voc) = 40 voltsSo this one is middle ground and whether combined in series or parallel– I have found that this one, comparatively, delivers the most overall wattage and efficiency.

    Cheap in a bad way

A selling point is that it says it’s portable power. Well, only a few miles down the highway and the frame ripped from the straps (on my camper top) from the pre-drilled holes meant to attach the panel. Initial test of the output was promising but not going to risk these again for a truly portable option.

    An efficient solar solution

This panel proved to be a great addition to my small off-grid cabin. Its build quality is great, combining durability with a modern look, thanks to its neat black border. In terms of efficiency, it exceeded my expectations, handling the daily power needs for my cabin’s outdoor lighting and charging stations. It’s also very cost-effective. It offers similar, if not better, performance compared to higher-priced panels. This makes it an excellent option for those exploring solar power on a budget. In a personal project, I used it to set up a solar-powered water pump for my garden. The ease of installation and the seamless power delivery it provided was pretty good. It’s quite fulfilling to see such projects come to life, harnessing solar energy effectively. Definitely a worthwhile choice for anyone looking to implement small-scale, efficient solar solutions.

Well made 12 volt, 20 watt panel.

The solar panel is framed in aluminum and well made. Output in the Sun is a full 20 watts. The depth of the panel is 1″ and it has a junction box with MC-4 connectors on its back surface. There are 4 holes drilled in the back of the aluminum frame so you have some mounting options. The panel is a well made monocrystalline panel and actually outputs the 20 watts it’s rated at. If you need a 12 volt, 20 watt panel, this is a solid buy that will last.

    Efficient Panel, Good Form Factor.

I build a contraption that trickle charges my car’s battery that I don’t drive that much. It’s parked further down and I don’t want to run an extension cord down the driveway. Plus the sun is free. This is a great panel for that. I really like the dimensions. It has enough surface to be efficient but narrow so I can l can put it in my trunk if I want to drive the car. The black frame also helps to conceal the panel. Thieves just love picking them off parked rigs and RVs. Five stars from me. I hope this helps to make a decision!

    Decent

I ordered this because my husband and I do a lot of boondocking in out camper. We have solar on the roof and a plug on the side for additional solar so I got this to use with the side plug. I still have to decide if we are going to add this to the existing roof set up or if we want to get a controller to use this with the side plug. But this panel seems better constructed than the existing panel I have and looks like it will work well for either way I choose to use it

    Nice little panel

This is a review of the 20 watt Alrska panel, which I received through the Vine program. The panel was delivered promptly, in a sealed factory box that was placed inside an amazon box. There was no styrofoam in the box to protect it but I don’t think that was necessary since, unlike other (larger) solar panels I ordered, this panel came with plastic reinforced corners and tape on the aluminum frame. Removing the factory tape turned out to be a bit of a challenge but there is a good reason why the manufacturer installs it. Overall, the panel was delivered in very good shape. The panel feels sturdy and light. MC4 connectors are installed on the solar cables coming out of the junction box. Other than the panel, a warranty card was included in the box. For some reason, this panel’s specs are not listed on the amazon page, so I am including a picture of its label.Of course, the performance is the main criterion here, and this little panel punches way above its weight. Connected to my Bluetti PS54 portable power station, in full sunlight at 50 degrees temperature, I recorded up to 27 watts, a whopping 35% above its rated power (see the picture). Keep in mind that a typical PWM solar charge controller should produce less power – but that is not the panel’s fault, which clearly delivers. While I cannot speak about its long-term reliability, based on my initial assessment, I believe that this solar panel is a very solid contender in the crowded small-panel area. It’s got my recommendation.

    Tall-n-heavy panel

Quite a tall panel. The surface is not smooth, but more of ETFE like. This is not my first Alrska product, so I’m aware that they don’t produce efficient output. They should’ve been an affordable solar company, but this 100W ones is a bit high. They do tend to have special events, and I purchased 2x200W via lightning deal back in the day. I put them in series, and managed 289Watts from a 500W capable power generator. This ones has about the same 70th percentile in efficiency. In comparison, the 400W panels were around $310+tax (289W real world result). This one is $110+ tax(75W real world result). In conclusion, if you can get a deal on this, then grab them. They give a consistent result.

    Nice 100w solar panel

The media could not be loaded.

This is a nice 100w solar panel. Mountable. But, I’m using it more as a mobile panel. I have a large capacity battery that I like to plug in to it and charge and I move the panel according to where the sun is. The battery has a cap of 65w input. This panel gave me at least that much power in direct sunlight. (You never get the full power that the unit is rated for). This works for my mobile setting and will definitely work if you mount it! I want more!! I can’t believe more people don’t have solar panels. This thing’s awesome.

Connected to an inexpensive charge controller just to keep the batteries charged in the truck when not in use. I like the sleek look of the all black design and it looks nice on my truck without jumping out as anything unusual. Essentially, I’m using as a trickle charger and it’s doing a great job, and there was no need for anything bigger. Its the sleek look of these panels that make it a standout from the rest for me.How My Star Rating System Works & What They Mean:1 STAR – Pretty much junk and I would return and ask for a refund if I could.2 STAR – It works, but barely meets the minimum requirements it should in order to keep it and not return it, but I would not order again.3 STAR – It does what it was designed to do, but there’s nothing really special about it. It’s acceptable but not great.4 STAR – I am very comfortable recommending it to a friend because it is is well made, durable, and delivers on its advertised features, and I would buy it again.5 STAR – I really love it. The item exceeds my expectations of quality, durability and functionality. Not only would I purchase it again, but I would also actively encourage friends and family to do the same. All of my reviews are my own personal opinion and are completely honest no matter if I receive an item for free or I pay for it. I am an avid Amazon shopper, as well as an Amazon Vine Voice and I personally rely on reading reviews to make all of my buying decisions, so I understand the importance of honest reviews from my peers.

30W panel for a reasonable price!

This is a typical monocrystalline panel rated at 12v / 30w. I haven’t had the opportunity to put it to use, but I did check the output (open circuit voltage and short circuit current) via a multimeter. The spec sheet indicates a Voc of 22.92 volts and a Isc of 1.65 amps. In full afternoon sunshine (about as good as it gets where I’m at), I measured roughly 23 volts and 1.9 amps…so a fair bit better than the specs. Of course, both will drop under less than ideal circumstances. I cannot say yet how well it’ll operate in typical usage, so I’ll have to report back after it’s been used a few times. From an aesthetics standpoint, it’s a unique panel in that it’s all black (vs. the more commonly seen grey frames), so that’s interesting. I will note that the company apparently has less than stellar quality checks, since I did see a few (presumable) manufacturing defects in the panel itself, but they’re not overly noticeably unless you are really looking for them. Based on my multimeter measurements, these don’t affect actual usage in the least. If able, I’d have given the panel 4.5 stars due to the defects, but beyond that, it seems pretty reasonable!

    Good quality

Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to try these out, but I will say they come well packaged and seem like they are very good quality. I have every reason to believe they will do the job I give them to do when I have the time and resources that allow me to put these panels to work.

Great value on a 200w panel

I am using this panel to charge a goal zero yeti 1000x battery and it is doing great. I am getting pretty good power – it is winter as I write this review – so imagine it will draw even better power in the spring and summer. I opted for a 200w instead if two 100w to save space and simplify wiring. It is easy to use and could be mounted if one wanted to do so.I have the flexible 150w and 180w solar panels from this company mounted in my rooftop tent and they are doing great as well.Overall, great value and good build.

    24V NOT 12V Panels

Purchased 3 panels. Two arrived fine with the third in a box that had been torn and punctured and taped all over. Opened one of the good boxes to test a panel with an mppt tester. The panel itself produced 178W which is decent, however, it wasn’t until I read the label that I discovered the panels are 24V. Incompatible with 12V systems. I immediately initiated a return. One other quirk is the female connector from the panel is very difficult to disconnect as it is designed differently than any other I’ve seen. Would love to get the 2 hours back it took to test repackage and label the boxes for return. Unacceptable.

    Quick setup and well built

Quick shipping and setup. Was interesting to see Renogy hardware used on panel. This is a nice panel that provides 27 volts of power. Would buy another.

Falling apart out of the box

Frames are barely attached, pulled out of the box and the frames on every panel are not even attached on the sides. Other than that they look fine but the sloppy assembly has me worried.

Terrible power output after only a few months

Does not produce nearly as much power as it should. Especially when it heats up, which it does very quickly since it is all black!

    these are trash bought 2 – 200 w panels only getting 85 to 130 watts total .

they do not work properly only getting less than 1/4 power per 200 w panel.

A bit price $/watt, but compact w/MC4 connectors and puts out rated power.

A nice compact solid panel. Luckily it arrived when we finally got some sun so I could run out and hook it up for testing. On my MPPT charge controller I was able to hit about 23w on intermittent cloudy skies. Note that the temperature outside was about 48F, and colder temperatures will yield higher outputs. Panels are rated under STC, standard test conditions and usually have a label on the back that state all of these specifications. If it’s hotter, colder, brighter or darker than these conditions you will have differing results. Also your charge controller plays a large part in your results as well. A PWM controller will NOT yield full results as it must operate within the voltage of your battery vs. an MPPT controller which can vary the current to your battery voltage to maximize your output by adjusting the current draw on the panel and thus the voltage as well finding the maximum power point (MPPT: Maximum Power Point Tracking). Also, if your battery is full, the charge controller will not pull power from the panel as it has nowhere to go. When testing you need to put a load on the system greater than what the panel will supply so the controller will ramp up the draw.I prefer rigid panels over flexible panels as the protective coating on flexible panels tends to breakdown and have issues over time. Glass won’t, unless you break it.This panel is a decent small rigid panel which has enough power to charge up your phone or an iPad. With the proper charge controller and a LiFePo4 battery you could pair these up and get about 40w in a nice portable package. It’s not going to power your house, but good for portable device charging etc. My only real negative is on pricing. You lose the economy of scale with smaller panels.

    Durable and efficient solar panel

The panel is well designed and seems quite durable. The frame is black, whereas most panels the frame is plain aluminum in appearance. They also went the extra mile by protecting each corner of the panel with plastic bumper guards, which protect you from the sharp edges you often find at the connection points and welds on most solar panels. The MC4 connectors are good quality, and the pins inside each were centered properly so everything snapped into place and seated securely. The panel also has a slightly textured top layer, opposed to my other panels which are mostly smooth and flat like a sheet of glass. I am to assume it has something to do with impact resistance or maybe even increases the amount of light captured by the panel. All I know for sure is that is looks great and I like how it looks a lot. Immediately after connecting, I was pulling in 26 watts on my portable power station. Getting 26 watts out of a 30-watt panel is very good in my opinion. I imagine later in the year when the sun’s rays are stronger, I may be able to get even more wattage from this panel. This panel is a great solution for my scenario, where I need a somewhat strong panel that’s both durable and compact to take with me for charging my portable power station while camping. The only thing I don’t like about this panel is that it does not come with a kick stand or bracket to angle it. This is strictly a solar panel, but could easily be more versatile and appealing if it came with a kickstand. I can’t fault them for this, as they do not advertise that it comes with a stand. But it would be a lot cooler if it did! Overall I am quite happy with this solar panel and I would recommend it.

    Great 24v panel

I recently ordered the Alrska 200 watt Solar Panel and I am extremely satisfied with my order. I use it on top of my tractor barn along with a charge controller to keep my batteries maintained. The high efficiency black PV module is perfect for keeping my batteries maintained while keeping a couple led lights lit. The panel seems to be made of high-quality materials and built to last. The installation process was easy and straightforward. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a high-quality solar panel.

Good solar panels for powering your batteries or projects

I ordered a former listing that was for a 20W 12V solar panel, but since it’s the same line, the quality should be the same. The solar panel looked well made and the provided warranty adds peace of mind. On inspecting the panel, the glass cover seems like it will protect the cells well and arrived perfectly without any damage. After setting it up, it works great, filling up a 300W power bank within a few hours. Even on semi-cloudy days, it has been functioning well. If you have off-grid projects, this series of solar panels seems like an affordable, quality option to get power.
